Kinja'd!!!4 Kinja'd!!! 11

Waymoe here, bringings back my Forumla Un series where we talk about Formula One and sometimes NASCAR cars.

Kinja'd!!!

The formula one season always begins in the Outback because of its location and moderately priced steaks and shrimp. Only 11 drivers finished the race after only 15 qualified. Waymoe is not a mathamagician but I beleive that is a 90% drop out rate.

Quick recap : McLaren is using this season to showcase Hondas new Odyssey engine, finishing at the end of the pack but at the front of the minds of moms everywhere. Mercedes had a terrific showing, finishing a couple days ahead of Vettel and Massa who were as surprised as I was at their finish in the top 5. Kimi had some damage done to him, causing to retire. Lotus is much better, Toro Rossi is much better, Ferrari is better, and Renault is hot garbage. Red Bull is very upset with formula one and not with Renault. They should be upset with Renault as they have provided Red Bull with a delicate flower instead of an engine. The flower wilts and explodes, but it is the FIA who is at fault because Mercedes is better and that is not fair.

Long recap: Nico Hulkenberg looked good in the Force India, time will tell for them as pre-season testing was very short.

Takeaways: Honda and Renault both created the engine form of Carrot Top. McLaren will win every race by 30 seconds this year. Red Bull lost Vettel but not his whiny spirit and are " contemplating leaving F1 " if their billionaire owner loses his passion ($$). The middle of the pack is much better than in recent years. This should be an entertaining (on and off the track) season.

Far and away the best race recap on Jalopnik. The FP piece was a steaming pile of hot garbage and used diapers.

Are used diapers not hot garbage?

Freshly used are. These have been sitting in the shadows waiting for a chance to get on the FP and showing why they should never be let out again.

Do you worry the problems with Honda's F1 engine will cause problems with Honda's Indycar engine?

You have to mention Vettel's jab at Nico in the post-race conference!

"I hope we can have a good fight," [Nico] replied. "That would be awesome. I think the next couple of races we're going to be leading the way for sure, and we're going to try and keep it that way, but we know it would be good if they can come a bit closer, as long as they don't come too close…"

At that point, Vettel piped up from the other side of Lewis Hamilton. The exchange went as follows:

Vettel: "Be honest, do you really hope so!? [Laughs] Seriously? Seriously, they finished 30 seconds ahead of us and you hope that's it going to be closer. So you hope you slow down, is that what you're saying?"

Rosberg: "I hope you can give us a challenge because it's important for the sport and for the fans and I do think about the show. Half of me, or a part of me, thinks about the show because I want to give people a great time watching or on the track. So if you do come a bit closer, that would be awesome.

Vettel: "That's fine. My first suggestion, if you don't mind, could be that your garage becomes public for Malaysia and everyone can have a look. Is that what you're suggesting? No, I'm joking."

Rosberg: "You can come if you want. We can invite you."

Vettel: "Thank you for the invite, I'll come. Engineer's room? Debrief, I'll be there."

What's the penalty if Honda use their 4 allotted engines? Could it be worse than finishing last every race? Why don't they just turn them up and show that they are fast, it would quiet the detractors.

I thought the race was pretty boring, I actually fell asleep after Kimi retired and woke up to see the last lap. I desperately hope someone catches up to Merc because if the whole season is nothing but a Mercedes parade I will be less and less inclined to even watch the race. Even when Red Bull was winning all the time the races were more exciting, the other cars were closer than the 30 seconds off they were this last race.

I just feel bad for Verstappen. Youngest driver in F1, puts down one hell of a drive, only to have his first F1 race (which most likely would have resulted in points) taken away by car failure. I give him credit for keeping it together for all those post-race interviews.
